LAGASSE JR. KEEPS UP FAST PACE IN OFF WEEKS

St. Augustine, FL (June 10th, 2013)

Life stays busy for TeamSLR and Scott "Scotty" Lagasse Jr. even with some weeks off before his next NASCAR Nationwide Series race. One of the unique aspects of TeamSLR's relationship with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is that there are seemingly limitless opportunities and events in which the team can engage the Scouts and their families.

With appearances scheduled across the country the team is working tirelessly to promote the Boy Scouts of America and assist partners during this "calm before the storm". "We know how busy we will be once we announce new marketing partners and ramp up our race schedule so we want to make the best of our available time now," said Scotty. TeamSLR has been making quite a buzz with its cutting edge program that puts BSA Racing at the top of every scout's wish list.

Scotty & the Team produced a solid performance at the Richmond NASCAR Nationwide race on April 26th as the new program continues to develop. "Our performance was better than our finish but we are realistic about our expectations at this stage and we are being patient with our results. Our business plan is complex, but in many respects it is quite simple. We utilize our Race/Marketing platform to deliver exposure and opportunities for our marketing partners."

"The last month or so has been full of events and I am honored to be a part of each one," said Scotty. "At all of these events I have experienced something fun and rewarding. From repelling down the 460' high EverBank building to meeting World-Renowned Deep-Sea Archaeologist and Oceanographer Robert Ballard, to meeting children at Wolfson's Hospital, shaking hands and talking shop with top BSA leaders in Dallas and most recently meeting Florida Governor Rick Scott and others while raising money for the Scouts. Exciting stuff for all," said Scotty.

"I am really looking forward to our full time racing plans for 2014 and beyond and when you combine it with all of the other activities that we are involved in I think I better rest up soon. Join me for a quick look at just a few of the highlights from the past few weeks. Who knows we may be visiting you soon!"

April 28th: Scotty often teams up with other notable figures in his hometown of St. Augustine and its neighboring city, Jacksonville, to support a number of local community causes. One of those causes, Megan Watkins, hits especially close to home for Scotty and the Team. Megan is a family member of Scotty's who was diagnosed at age 17 with brain cancer. Friends, family and supporters held a field day fundraiser for Megan on April 28th. Scotty and his team were in attendance with his #8 Boy Scouts of America Chevrolet.

First and Fifth graders set a reading goal of reading 500 books.  If students met their goal, then they could participate in the race. Those participating in the race, which included the teachers, made race cars out of cardboard boxes and raced them around the bases on the baseball field.

May 16th: Scotty was able to visit Wolfson Children's Hospital while in downtown Jacksonville.  Scotty visited over thirty children of all ages while at the Hospital. "It's always so rewarding seeing their smiles from ear to ear and I am the lucky one to have the opportunity to make them smile"

May 16th-17th: Scotty, who is always up for a good adrenaline rush, was excited to hear that he was going to be hanging "Over the Edge" with the local Boy Scout Council. The North Florida Council held an "Over the Edge" fundraising event that involved dignitaries, celebrities and influential donors repelling 460 feet down the side of the EverBank Building in downtown Jacksonville. The event was a multi-day event with all sorts of unique fun filled activities for all ages. "This was a day to remember! It's not every day that you get to do something this cool. It reminds me of when my Dad and I went Bungee Jumping in New Zealand when I was 12".

May 22nd-25th: Irving,Texas BSA Annual National Meeting.  Scotty and TeamSLR  provide the BeAScout.org NASCAR Race Car for all to see along with a TeamSLR booth showcasing the many opportunities for Scout Councils around the country to get involved with Scotty & TeamSLR. Scotty had the opportunity to meet Scout Executives and Oceanographer guru Bob Ballard.

On June 4th Scotty attended the North Florida Council "America Values Dinner".  The dinner and program honored Pat Geraghty, Mary Virginia Terry and Governor Rick Scott and featured key note speaker Jim Turley, CEO of Ernst & Young. Scotty, with his #8 Boy Scouts of America Chevrolet in tow, was welcomed by guests and supporters from the world of Scouting. "It's great to be here supporting Individuals that do so much for Scouting. This is about recognizing the great people that continue to grow Scouting and provide opportunities for Scouts. Governor Scott and Scotty were able to spend some quality time discussing the future plans for TeamSLR.

Scotty & TeamSLR  quickly loaded the Race Car and drove straight through the night to make it on time for this next appearance in St Louis.

June 5th: Lewis & Clark Council, St. Louis MO. Annual Friends of Scouting Thank You Celebration with a racing theme entitled "Meet us in Victory Lane." The reception & program were held at Gateway Motorsports Park. Scotty was a huge hit and spent time with Scouts & VIP donors and even entertained them with some laps around the track and smokey burnouts.

With Scotty and Team focused on growing into a major force in racing, TeamSLR will continue its successful pioneering program and is looking forward to the many future opportunities. "This has been a wild 5 weeks or so between our efforts to assist our partners and spending time at our Dirt Race events and I'm eager for this weekend's dirt race with our Driver Development duo in Florida." These guys have really delivered over the past weeks with not only race car prep but also supporting all of these activities. A big Thank You to Aaron & Mitch as well as BSA, AIM Vault and America's Incredible Pizza for all of their support.

Stay tuned as we gear up for more excitement including BSA troops visiting our Florida shop this Wednesday evening. Thursday, Learning for Life, an affiliate of the BSA has invited Scotty to take the Race Car to Orlando for the Sonny's Character Camp event. On June 20 we will spend 2 days at Camp Shands with a large group of Scouts from around the South Eastern U.S.

We look forward to hearing from you! Stay up to date by following Scotty on Twitter @scottlagasse
